Allan Cohen - Since 1964 when he first heard of Meher Baba, Allan has been leading two lives. In one life, with a Harvard University Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, he has served on the faculty at Harvard, University of California (Berkeley) and John F. Kennedy University (Concord, CA), where he was also Dean of Students and Athletic Director. Co-Founder of the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE), his work against drug abuse lead him to national prominence in the field, consulting with the White House under three Presidents. He was given a lifetime achievement award from the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors. PIRE became one of the largest national independent institutes doing drug and alcohol prevention in the USA and across several continents. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist in three States, was Associate Editor of the Journal of Primary Prevention, still plays softball and is a licensed aircraft pilot. He is Vice-Chair of the Foundation for Autism Support and Training, whose director is a Baba-lover.

His other life involved an early correspondence with Meher Baba, being instructed, with Rick Chapman and Robert Dreyfuss, to lead Baba’s US devotees to instruct the American public and youth against LSD and the misuse of other drugs and to act as Baba's American disciples in spreading His message of Love and Truth. Allan thus gave over 1,000 talks, and myriad radio and TV appearances talking of Baba and his message about the dangers of drug abuse. Recently, he has been collaborating with Baba-lovers who produced several episodes of the Sopranos TV show and are planning future series, sprinkling in spiritual themes.

He was one of only six Westerners to attend Baba's entombment in early February of 1969. Earlier, Baba had approved his writing "The Mastery of Consciousness", a book on Meher Baba's "methods" for spiritual advancement, first published in 1977. Since 1967, he has been a member of Meher Baba's chartered Sufism Reoriented, both in Washington DC and Walnut Creek California. He currently resides exactly four miles north of the President Obama's personal quarters in Washington DC with his wife of 25 years, Baba-lover housemates and his brilliant dog, Moki.

Allan looks forward to sharing amusing and instructive stories with his Northwest brothers and sisters, including his adventures as "the Clueless Aspirant".
